Public Engagement

Outreach Group

Mission Statement

The MRC Toxicology Unit aims to provide local schools and colleges the chance to utilise the wealth of experience and passion for research our institution possesses. By interacting with younger people we aim to educate, inform and encourage a desire to explore the world of scientific investigation as career path for all.

The Public Outreach programme

We run an active Outreach programme with schools, colleges and other organisations in and around the Leicestershire area.

We can offer experimental sessions with our “Lab in a box” sessions, we host experience days where a class can perform a longer experiment and listen to talks from scientist, or we can deliver a variety of lectures to your class. For examples of these activities please see our “What we can offer page”.

We have links with local agencies, especially the Leicestershire Education Business Company and the East Midlands STEM partnership and we contribute to events organised with these groups.

We are currently in the process of expanding our Public Outreach programme in order to engage a wider audience of all ages and participate in events.
